Please, read these instructions carefully prior to use of the FibreFreshR products, so that you can care for them correctly and achieve optimum effectiveness, durability, comfort and lasting satisfaction.

Caring for a new pad: New reusable incontinence bed and chair pads should be washed with detergent at least once prior to first use to activate absorbent function. Full absorbency will be reached after several washes. Integral fluid proof backing is made from a fully re-usable launderable fabric that can also be tumble dried, hence the same washing and drying instructions apply to pads with built-in backing as to those without.

Detergents: Use detergents that do not contain built-in softeners or conditioners. Avoid harsh detergents and detergents that contain cationic surfactants. Always check labels on packaging and follow manufacturers instructions.

Softeners, Conditioners and Detergents with built-in softeners must not be used as these have a detrimental effect on the overall absorbency. The effect of fabric softeners/conditioners is cumulative and will render the pad non-absorbent with repeated use. If softener or conditioner is used by mistake, rinse thoroughly and immediately re-wash with normal detergent.

Bleaches: Use of these is not recommended. However, if necessary, only diluted oxygen-based domestic bleaches should be used. Manufacturers recommendations should always be followed.

Storage and Handling: Wear gloves and aprons to prevent contamination of personal clothing when changing soiled pads. Store separately to other items prior to washing. When clean, store in dry cupboards and away from potential contaminants like chemicals, liquids or powders.

Replacement: Products should be replaced when absorbency and comfort are lost or there is a visible damage to the absorbent or fluid proof surface. Subjecting items to harsh conditions may shorten their life span.

Electric Blankets: We recommend that individual manufacturers be consulted for advice on usage of electric bed warming devices, if these are to be used with incontinence bedpads, waterproof mattress protective sheets and other fluid proof items. Basic rules are:  Always unplug an electric underblanket before lying on a bedpad and always separate a bedpad from an electric overblanket with a sheet.

Safe Disposal

FibreFreshR incontinence products are designed to be re-used over 200 times without loss of function or comfortability. They will last even longer, if care recommendations, as outlined in this leaflet, are followed. They will need to be replaced only when there is an apparent deterioration in their usual absorbency or comfortability. Products must be washed and dried prior to disposal to prevent any possibilities of contamination. Clean items should be put in a separate bag for extra security and disposed of with other household waste.
