The performance of the bed pads was very impressive on each measured parameter. The absorbency was good and there were no complaints from the patients. Some nurses and care assistants felt that the pads with wings were more preferable in the nursing home scenario, although the surface movements of the pads without wings were minimal due to the non-slip finish on the waterproof backing sewn into each pad. Skin condition in the patients using the FibreFreshR incontinence pads was found to be consistently very good. The individual and overall scores for the bed pads F2WSF – Standard pads with waterproof and wings and the bedpads F2S – Standard pads with waterproof but without wings were very good. The numbers of bed changes were consistently reduced for both types of the pads (with and without wings). these
continence pads to our more demanding or heavily incontinent residents. We did this
entirely on purpose because we wanted to expose the products to the worst-case
scenario to test their real performance. We were impressed by the pads right
from the very beginning. When new, the products looked good and the sizes –
both of the absorbent and the securing wings were notably generous. The User
Instructions were very detailed, informative and easy to follow with no
special requirements other than not to use fabric softeners. We washed the
pads a few times before the first use and consequently, the absorbance was
excellent right from the start. The drying time appeared comparable or
slightly shorter than with other existing pads. Urine was well contained and,
in some cases, we have managed to reduce the number of bed pads changes – which we
consider to be very important, especially at night. Odour was well controlled
and there were no skin problems observed or reported. Residents found them
comfortable and there were no complaints. We asked the company representative,
if a chair pad in a larger size could be made to cater for our well-built
incontinent residents that prefer or have to sit on a two-sitter settee. A
larger chair pad was made to our specified size and it proved very effective
in preventing accidental wetting of the cushions through overspill".
