The BA-TUBE Respiratory Resistance Therapy Device from Schill Medical GmbH has been specially developed for use by patients with chronic bronchitis, asthma, pulmonary emphysema and cystic fibrosis. In post operative or immobilised patients, the BA-TUBE is used to prevent atelectasis, a condition in which a whole lung or a part of it is collapsed or without air. The BA-TUBE is simple to operate and can be used anytime and anywhere - outdoors, indoors, at work or at home. The user simply selects the resistance level against which he or she exhales. The resistance to exhaling leads to the build up of positive expiratory pressure (PEP) within the mouth. The positive expiratory pressure (PEP) extends from the oral cavity further to the lungs, where it acts like an invisible splint, preventing bronchial collapse. Experience with the BE-TUBE respiratory therapy device at Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden has shown that patients using the BA-TUBE accepted the device readily and used it more frequently than other PEP (positive respiratory pressure) aids. The BA-TUBE helped to relieve dyspnoea and reduced breathing frequency. Improved mucus transportation and expectoration were also observed. BA-TUBE was found to be a valuable aid that complemented medical and physiotherapy treatments of patients with chronic COPD.

Nebulisers Nebulisers / nebulizers are very powerful drug delivery devices that deliver high doses of medication in the form of mist or aerosol directly and immediately to the airways of the lungs through inhalation. Nebulisers / nebulizers are commonly used to treat severe asthma attacks and other serious respiratory and lung diseases. 'Ultrasonic' or 'Aerosonic' nebulisers nebulise medicines very fast and very quietly using ultrasonic sound waves in the conversion of liquid medicine into a vapour like fine mist - this process is called 'ultrasound atomisation'. Ultrasonic nebulisers deliver extra fine and ultra small medicine particles for effective absorption deep in the respiratory system, thus helping to reduce medicine consumption and related side effects. Ultrasonic nebulisers are fast with short inhalation times and a discreetly silent operation. Nebulisers / nebulizers are very powerful and deliver much higher doses of drugs than other devices (i.e. puffers or inhalers). You should only use a nebuliser, if advised to do so by your doctor! The Multisonic InfraControl nebuliser generates aerosol only when the patient inspires with it. The patient sucks in the generated aerosol with the inspiratory flow. When the inspiration stops, the inhalation chamber fills quickly with new aerosol and the congestion density in the chamber progressively increases. Soon the density of the trapped aerosol forces further production of aerosol to cease - until the patient starts to inspire again. The inspiration relieves the congestion in the chamber, which triggers aerosol generation to commence again. The same process repeats itself for the entire duration of the treatment. When using the InfraControl nebuliser, the patients can simply inhale and exhale with their own rhythm of breath using either mouthpiece or mask. The InfraControl nebuliser stops automatically at the end of inhalation, when the nebulised medicine has been inhaled. Drug delivery performance of the Multisonic InfraControl nebuliser is exceptionally high (circa 86% as measured with NaCl 0.9%)) with optimum utilisation of nebulised medications and minimal wastage.
Indications for use of the Multisonic InfraControl nebuliser include bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive bronchitis, bronchiectasis, mucoviscidosis, pulmonary hypertension, acute recurring infections, chronic diseases of the airways with pulmonary emphysema and cystic fibrosis.
