Urinary incontinence is a common problem for women. Incontinence affects long term health and reduces quality of life, making the sufferers unable to fully participate in normal daily activities and even becoming house bound. Stress incontinence is the most common form of urinary incontinence. Urine leaks because the pelvic floor muscles and urethra cannot take the extra pressure. Urine leakage tends to happen when you cough, laugh, or when you exercise (like when you jump or run). This is because in such situations there is sudden rise in pressure within the abdomen and on the bladder.
The main reason for the stress incontinence is the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles. As soon as you start building up the pubococcygeal muscle strength and endurance, you will be able to stop urine from leaking every time you sneeze, cough, jump or run.
