The unit is controlled by a

NeuroTrac Labour Tens uses four rectangular self adhesive skin electrodes that are 100 x 50 mm in size. The four electrodes should be placed between the 10th thoracic vertebrae and the 1st lumbar vertebrae as pictures on the left. Alternatively, the two electrodes should be placed between the 10th thoracic vertebrae and the 2nd sacral vertebrae as pictures on the right. Clinical evidence suggests that the optimum pain control is achieved, when the stimulator is used from the first onset of the labour pain and for two to three hours after the birth. The low frequency stimulation is to be used during the periods between contractions, whilst the higher frequency should be reserved for the times of the strong contractions.
