Our most sincere congratulations to Dr Betty Perkins-Carpenter!

Falling is a major concern for older people as it represents a life-threatening hazard.

Mobility and fitness are crucial for health and independence in later life. The “Balance System” developed by Dr Betty Perkins-Carpenter, former consultant to the President's Council on Physical Fitness, helps older people to improve their muscle tone, take control over their balance, and even provides “tips” for safer falling! Dr Betty is an accomplished researcher into fitness. She runs a successful Fitness Organization in Penfield, New York, USA.

Dr Betty is also a frequent speaker to medical professionals, health organizations and general public.

The Balance System - developed by Dr Betty and presented in the book entitled “How To Prevent Falls” - teaches a series of movements and simple exercises to improve balance and space depth perception. It also helps to increase body flexibility, leg strength, endurance and to minimize the fear as well as the risk of falling. The Balance System is a series of 35 exercises designed with mature adults in mind. Dr Betty believes that exercising should be safe, regular and fun and could be carried out without any expensive complex equipment. Physical agility also improves mental fitness, alertness and overall well-being.

"How to prevent falls" an invaluable resource that helps to avoid or minimise injuries commonly associated with falling through fitness and better balance. A teach yourself guide to fitness in the later part of life. You can improve many aspects of your life and you can do it yourself in your own home and without any special and expensive equipment - all you need is yourself and your willingness to become fit again for life!
