Bioelectric resistance analysis is frequently referred to as Bioelectric Impedance Analysis - BIA. Muscle tissues and water have good electrical conductivity and offer a low resistance to the passing current. Fatty tissues hardly conduct electric current and therefore have very low conductivity and present a very high resistance. Diagnostic scales perform the measurements quickly in seconds.
