The three traditional methods used for muscle recovery and restoration of the joint movement are physiotherapy exercise, controlled passive movement (CPM) and a sliding board. The CAM Device utilises a combination of these three traditional therapies in one portable device. The principal action of the Lincoln Red CAM Device is similar to that of the CPM (controlled passive movement), but with its passive aspect replaced by the controlled active movement of the patient's other leg, resulting in a totally safe and guided movement applied to the recovering leg. The CAM Device is the exerciser of choice for optimum rehabilitation following knee surgery and for any other post traumatic situation, major surgery or illness, where gentle movement of the legs will help the user to regain mobility and fitness. CAM Device can also be used to help rehabilitation of stroke victims. Regular use of the CAM Device can even help people unable to walk to prevent the formation of DVT (deep vein thrombosis).
The CAM device differs fundamentally from CPM (Controlled Passive Movement) in that there is active muscle input required in the operated limb. Another additional advantage of the CAM device is the active ankle movement associated with the CAM design. Active ankle and foot movements have been shown to reduce the risk of DVT. Further on the active quadriceps movement associated with CAM device provide natural physiological stimulation. Improved femoral artery blood flow may result from the active muscle contracture and an increased muscle work rate. The CAM Device is lightweight, easy to carry and perfect for home use by people recovering from surgery. Regular use of the Lincoln Red CAM Device reduces post operative recovery time and restores functionality and strength of the leg muscles and joints. Lincoln Red CAM Device operates from any seated position and from any chair or armchair. It is simple, but effective. Its patented design is totally unique and proven in clinical trials. Controlled Active Movement Device is simple to use. It does not require electric power and it is maintenance free. It is portable and you can use it anytime and anywhere. How to use the Lincoln Red CAM Device
You can adjust the length of the pedal stroke to suit your range of movements. You can also vary the resistance by pressing down with one foot, whilst pushing your other foot away from you. Use the CAM device within a comfortable range of movements. Begin with a small number of repetitions, gradually increasing accordingly to your improving condition and fitness.
