Win Health Ltd. is an
established and successful healthcare company offering a broad diverse portfolio
of health, fitness and self care devices and products, encompassing falls and
fracture prevention, incontinence and pelvic floor health, drug free pain
relief, laser phototherapy and much more.
Win Health Ltd. was formed in January 2001 by
Halina Wooldridge with a key objective to bring innovative, proven and
user friendly hip
protectors to the UK market. Win Health is based in Jedburgh in the Scottish
Borders.
External hip protectors are accepted non
pharmacological interventions that help to prevent fall related hip injuries in the elderly people with compromised bone strength
(osteoporosis). Historically, in the UK and Europe, hard shelled type of hip
protectors were developed and established, whilst in the USA developments of
soft shelled protective products were undertaken. The major issue surrounding
hard shell hip protectors is the well documented lack of adherence to wearing
due to discomfort caused by the hard plastic shells incorporated in personal
garments to be worn by the elderly people.

Halina's
goal to secure a proven user friendly alternative hip protector was
achieved in the later part of 2002, when Win Health Ltd. became the sole UK importer of
the HipSaver Soft Hip Protectors from the USA. Win Health also secured an agreement to manufacture
HipSaver products destined for the UK and the European market in Scotland.

Win Health is now an approved supplier to the NHS
in all parts of the United Kingdom. HipSaver products can be purchased directly
from Win Health as well as
from the Distribution Centres of the NHS Supply Chain (NHS Contract for England, Wales and Northern Ireland).
In Scotland, Win Health features on the SHS (Scottish Healthcare Supplies)
website as a hip protector provider and distributes HipSaver products directly
to the NHS Trusts.
In
mid 2003, we
commenced manufacturing of the HipSaver products in Jedburgh. Our goal is to
gradually increase our manufacturing capabilities over a period of time to become
self-sufficient and to make in the UK a proportion of HipSavers destined for
marketing in some European
countries. Right now, our manufacturing capacity is by far too small to
meet the growing UK demands for the HipSaver products. We therefore continue to
import the vast majority of the garments directly from the USA. HipSaver users
can easily recognise the manufacturing origin of HipSaver garments by looking at
their labels. Otherwise - the garments made in the UK are identical to those
made in the USA.
In 2004, Win Health
introduced FallSmart Bedside Fall Out Mats, unique design of mats that protect against
injuries caused by accidental fall out of bed. The mats are company's own
designed and are manufactured locally in the UK. The unique design of the
FallSmart mat minimises risks normally associated with other mats, rugs or
mattresses placed by the bed side to cushion the farces of the fall out. The
FallSmart Fall Out Mats
are fast gaining popularity with hospitals and care homes nationwide.
From the same US
manufacturer as the HipSaver soft hip protectors, comes the range of products to protect
people suffering with fragile skin. The range of innovative protectors called
DermaSavers has been designed using revolutionary MicroSpring Textile. It is
capable of reducing skin damage caused by external pressure, shears and
abrasion. You can find out more about DermaSavers on
DermaSaver pages of this website.
Our most recent addition to
the portfolio is the V-Brace by Fembrace from the USA, for which Win Health Ltd.
act as the Authorised European Representative. The V-Brace helps women
suffering prolapse and pregnancy related vulvar varicosities. The V-Brace by
Fembrace fits perfectly to our incontinence and pelvic floor range of devices
and educational resources. You can find out more about the V-Brace by visiting
the V-Brace by Fembrace
pages on this website.
Win Health further business objective was to develop an
innovative, aesthetically
pleasing and highly effective range of re-usable incontinence products. The
company manufactures its own exclusive brand of bed and chair pads and waterproof beddings -
the FibreFresh range of
Bed and Chair Protection Products and the FibreFresh range of
Waterproof Bedding.
The Fibre Fresh products are made
"'in
house" to Win Health's own product
specification and to the highest quality
standards. The ability to manufacture products also allows unique "bespoke" service for customers who need continence products
in different sizes and shapes - a "made to measure" service - which is proving
to be very popular with customers not only in the UK, but also in far away
places like the USA.
Win Health is currently
progressing the making of the HipSaver hip protectors. The company feels that
manufacturing of "high demand and high growth" products - such as the HipSaver
hip protectors and the FibreFresh continence range - presents a great
opportunity to Win Health and to the Scottish Borders, where traditional skills
like "cut and sew" are now declining largely due to textile and garment
companies outsourcing manufacturing to other parts of the world.
In addition to manufacturing
and offering a 'textile' type of health care products, Win Health Ltd. embarked
upon forming of close relationships with manufactures of different medical
devices. This strategy has enabled Win Health to become involved with high class
of products, such as laser phototherapy devices from German company MedSolution
for whom we not only act as the exclusive distributor in the UK, but we also
contribute to marketing thinking and strategic developments.
The long term aim of Win Health is to provide an extensive portfolio of
innovative health and self care products. We forge close relationships with
other healthcare companies, medical devices manufacturers and with medical specialists
and opinion leaders in the UK and
globally so that we can provide our customers - the NHS, care institutions and
the public - with a broad range of quality products and educational resources at
affordable prices.
